Members and descendants of his family served in the highest offices of the Florence Repubblic sfrom the XIVth century, and they moved in Siena in 1720.
Stefano di Grigio and Orlando di Stefano di Grigio became Priories of the Florence Lordship.
Griccioli's historical estates are today gathered nearby Siena: Montechiaro, Monteriggioni and Castiglion Ghinibaldi.
The Montechiaro estate is a XVIIIth century villa surrounded by pittoresque and tiny village with medieval origines.
Being located at just 10km from Siena, the villa offers from its open area and the gardens in the surroundings one of the most enchanting view of the Siena city centre. It lies on 160 Ha of land, 12 of which are vineyards with 2000 surrounding olive trees.
